All transfers during your tour will be in your own private chauffeur-driven car or 4WD in the desert area.
On arrival at Marrakech airport, your private car and chauffeur will take you into the city of Marrakech and to the beautiful Riad Les Yeux Bleus, located in the heart of the medina (old quarter), where your en-suite double or twin standard room awaits you. The accommodation is provided on a bed and breakfast basis. Depending on your time of arrival, you are free to explore the medina and the souks at your leisure. Be sure to visit the famous Jemaa el Fna late afternoon to watch the ever-changing spectacle of entertainers and then admire the sunset from one of the many rooftop cafés. You may choose to dine here in the evening at one of the food stalls or alternatively at one of the many excellent restaurants in Marrakech. You can even dine at the riad itself where the food is highly recommended. The cost of dinner is not included.
After breakfast you will be met by an English-speaking professional guide who will show you around Marrakech and some of its extraordinary museums and monuments, as well as introduce you to the mysteries of the medina and the wide array of shopping available in the souks. This is a full-day tour and all entrance fees to monuments and museums are included. Lunch is at your leisure and cost. In the evening you are free to dine out in Marrakech and then return to Riad Les Yeux Bleus for the night. The cost of dinner is not included.
After breakfast, at around 11:00 a.m., you will be met by your chauffeur and taken to taken to the award winning and one of National Geographic's Unique Lodges of the World, Kasbah du Toubkal. The Kasbah is located in the High Atlas Mountains, a drive of approximately 90 minutes. On arrival at the village of Imlil, you will be escorted on a 15-minute uphill walk along a trail to the Kasbah, whilst your bags (and you if you wish) will be transported by mule. Your standard en-suite room will await you. At the Kasbah you can enjoy lunch on the terraces or choose to have lunch in the village of Imlil. The cost of lunch is not included. In the afternoon you are free to relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery. Dinner is provided at the Kasbah.
After breakfast you will be given a two-hour guided tour of the local area and if you wish to extend your walk, this can also be arranged for you. Alternatively, you may wish to explore some of the local villages on your own and take in the Berber way of life, perhaps meeting some of the very friendly local people. Once again, you can enjoy lunch on the terraces at the Kasbah or choose to have lunch in the village of Imlil. The cost of lunch is not included. Dinner is provided at the Kasbah.
After breakfast you will be met by your chauffeur and commence your ongoing journey towards the desert. You will cross the High Atlas Mountains via one of the highest mountain passes in Morocco, the Col du Tichka (2260 m), travelling through some spectacular scenery and then descending to the famous UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Ksar of Aït Benhaddou. This road was recently described by Jeremy Clarkson as one of the best of its type in the world. This 17th century fortified collection of earthen buildings is world famous and has been used as a backdrop for many films. If you wish to stop en route to take photographs, your chauffeur will be happy to oblige. He can also recommend suitable places to stop for lunch. The cost of lunch is not included. With stops, the journey will normally take about 5 hours.
You will then go to the edge of the village to the delightful Kasbah Ighnda where your superior en‑suite bedroom.
Your chauffeur will meet you at Kasbah Ighnda for the journey south to the edge of the true Sahara desert near M'Hamid el Ghislane. The drive takes you down the Draa valley and the mile after mile of date palms. The drive is quite spectacular. You arrive at the end of the road in the village of M'Hamid where you will notice the locals in the blue Berber robes associated with the desert people. There is a further hour or so off-road and this is where the Sahara begins. The deluxe camp, in our opinion the finest in Morocco, is located amongst the dunes of Erg Chigaga. At the camp all drinks and meals are provided as are camel excursions. In the evening the Berber staff often gather to sing and play drums around the camp fire and this combined with some wonderful night skies and an excellent dinner will remain with you for years to come.
This morning at dawn you will have the option of taking a camel ride deep into the dunes to watch the sunrise. After breakfast at the camp, you will be met by your chauffeur and head towards the oasis town of Skoura. This town lies next to one of the largest palm groves in Morocco and is part of an ancient trading route. You will stay overnight at the charming rustic Kasbah Aït Ben Damiette where an excellent dinner will be provided.
After breakfast you will be met by your chauffeur and you will make the return journey across the dramatic High Atlas Mountains to Marrakech. Once again, you will stay at Riad Les Yeux Bleus in the medina. You may wish to enjoy your final evening dining at one of the many excellent restaurants in Marrakech. The cost of dinner is not included.
After breakfast, depending on your flight time, you may wish to do any last minute sightseeing or shopping in Marrakech before your chauffeur takes you to Marrakech airport for your journey home.
